The Healthiest Meal of the Day by April Brewster Smythe

Breakfast and Weight Loss “Even if I'm gone all day, breakfast is the one meal I always cook for my kids. I make French toast, oatmeal, or an egg burrito.” Gabrielle Reece Apparently, breakfast is the most important meal of the day for Gabrielle Reece. And, of course, our mothers and grandmothers always said it is, as well. New studies and information from medical sites such as WEBMD confirms the chatter. One of my favorite sites about breakfast though is MrBreakfast.com. There the interested individual can find a wealth of information about what has always been known as the most important meal of the day! For example, on August 5, 2013, Mr. Breakfast reported that “A study from Wolfson Medical Center and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem found that women who eat their largest daily meal at breakfast are far more likely to lose weight and waist line circumference than those who eat their largest meal at dinner”. So, the facts are in!
A well-rounded breakfast propels the rest of the day! Those who are intent on powering their day with power drinks and extreme exercise though have to realize that mixing in the fully natural Shakeology drink can have a forceful impact on your day and your overall health. Decades ago, those who wanted to lose weight thought that skipping breakfast might do the trick. But, study after study has proven this belief false. The most effective weight loss comes from a jolting kick start as soon as we wake. Break-the-Fast- and gear up your metabolism as soon as you can. A powerful breakfast will do more to boost your metabolism than any form of exercise. Those who use the same old excuses such as; ‘I have no time to eat in the morning”, “I am not hungry in the morning”, “Food makes me sick in the morning”, and’ I would rather exercise in the morning than eat”, are singing a song that has lost its rhythm. A smoothie made with Shakeology will have you up and raring to face the day with more energy and pep than ever before. Remember, breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. Wake up! Shake, Shake, Shake! KC and the Sunshine Band!

Shakeology Comes to Waynedale!

"In the Middle Ages, they had guillotines, stretch racks, whips, and chains. Nowadays, we have a much more effective torture device called the bathroom scale." — Stephen Phillips The other day I was talking to a friend of mine here in Waynedale and mentioned that my daughter, Rita Johnson, and son, Chris Langschied are both using Shakeology and are now working as coaches for the company. She looked perplexed, and asked, “What is Shakeology”? Now, that is the question of the hour!
Shakeology is the nutritional segment of the Team Beach Body multinational company, founded by Carl Daikeler and Jon Congdon approximately five years ago. The company produces fitness DVD’s like Insanity and P90X. One of Team Beachbody’s biggest claims to fame is the 11-page article that was written in 2010 in O Magazine. A review of the article by Amanda Jones (Oprah Magazine Shakeology Review) tells the full story of the effort and time the team at BeachBody put into finding the all-natural ingredients in the Shakeology nutritional drink. For those who have tried every kind of diet, every kind of exercise program, and heard every kind of diet sales pitch, cynicism may have become a way of viewing the world of the diet and weight loss business. Once you take the time to read Amanda’s review, I believe that you would at least give the idea of trying Shakeology a second thought. If you would like to learn more about Shakeology and the Team Beach Body approach visit Rita Johnson’s Facebook page, (Work Ur Stuff)cell phone - (260) 415-2492 or call Chris Langschied at (260)-440-4984

Six Healthy Family Dinner Tips by April Brewster Smythe

The doctor of the future will no longer treat the human frame with drugs, but rather will cure and prevent disease with nutrition. – Thomas Edison Anyone who has ever been on a diet and had a family to feed faces the same challenge. What do I feed my family while I diet? Now there are several ways to approach this task. You may compel your family to eat what you eat. You might go strong and make different meals for everyone in the family (not recommended). Or last, but certainly not the best choice- you continue to eat what everyone else eats, even though you know it is off the diet reservation. Really, the best way to go about this challenge is to gracefully help your family eat what you eat. Here are six ways to do just that! 1) Live-It- No Diet – Aim towards a healthy lifestyle rather than a weight loss lifestyle. Family members might really get on board for healthy meals- but dislike the idea of going on a diet. 2) Ingredients, Please! - Many people today are going vegan. People like Bill Clinton have seen immense changes in their health because of this change. A man who used to love drive-through specials like Big Macs is now using zucchini and other veggies as the part of their meals. Choose healthy ingredients in new recipes. 3) It’s Not Ronald McDonald Time – You might need to sell your ideas to your family. Ever noticed how gorgeous that pizza or burger looks as it revolves on the TV screen. Make healthy menu recipes that look just as beautiful. 4) Once a Week Extravaganza – Create a new healthy meal each week- new foods are fun to try and family members might just love the adventure. 5) Who is Fussy? – Every family has one or two members who are picky about what they eat. Pick on them! Find the healthiest foods that they love and make recipes that honor them. Eat Fussy! 6) Don’t Give Up! - More than anything –don’t give up! Keep on trying the ideas above and generate new ideas for foods, family meals, and healthy snacks.
The above tips might get you thinking about different ways to approach family meals. Remember, the family that eats healthy together stays healthy together. Ciao! Just for fun- look at Work UR Stuff, Rita Johnson's Shakeology page!

The 7 Tips for Starting a Weight Loss Plan by April Brewster Smythe

Top 7 Tips for Starting a Weight Loss Plan By April Brewster Smythe Recently, ABC News reported the following startling statistics; there are 108,000,000 dieters in the United States, eighty-five per cent of those who consume weight loss products are female, and the yearly revenue of the United States weight-loss industry is well over 20 billion dollars. Big numbers that reflect the consistent obsession with weight and our growing obesity challenge in the U.S. Many of these weight loss programs are highly sophisticated, motivating, and filled with good intentions. Those weight loss products that contain thermogenic supplements are often suggested. It might be worth it for many, however, to get back to the basics. Here are seven tips for starting a weight loss plan. 1) Begin the day with a nutritious breakfast – Remember mom or grandma saying, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day’!? They were right. Dependent upon the foods that work for you, design a menu each week and stick with it. 2) No Soft Drinks, No Energy Drinks! - Water is the drink of the day, and should be the replacement beverage for you, when you get that craving for a Big Slurp! Drop a lemon or lime wedge to flavor the water, when boredom sets in. 3) Portion control is everything- Use a smaller plate and measure your foods. This is a useful trick that has been used for decades by those who wish to lose weight. 4) Snack Healthy! - Nothing is more difficult than to give up your fave snacks. Have a throw-away day where you get rid of all the snacks, like chips, cookies, and other unhealthy edibles. Then stop buying them. Don’t think you won’t slide backwards. The day will probably come when those potato chips at Subway will be calling your name. But you can control your household snack situation. If they are not there, you won’t eat them. 5) Create Milestones – Milestones are for those who work well with objectives. Make the milestones doable. Inserting healthy foods three days a week into your diet and making that happen for two weeks can be a doable milestone. Counting calories and counting pounds lost might just be aggravating. It all depends on you. 6) Cook up- Maybe you can’t have all those snacks that were bad for you, but you might make a visit to the local library or use online sites to find healthy snack recipes and cook them up. Or cut them up. Or make wonderful full course meals that will make being healthy much more fun. 7) Find support - Online site abound that provide support and accountability for you in your quest to lose weight. Face to face groups are locally available in many areas as well. Get online or get out in your community and find those who have the same goals as you do, and buddy up. Disclaimer: I am sure if you have tried to lose weight in the past none of the above are new to you and there is good reason for that. All of them work and can and should have a place in a weight loss plan.
